Overview

Catalyzer-based image management systems automate data handling and archiving for imaging facilities. The uploader component creates catalogs of image data as they are acquired, and uploads the catalogs and data to a secure server. Format-specific plug-ins are used to automatically populate the catalogs with metadata extracted from image files, such as microscope settings and notes typed into the microscope by the user during acquisition. Users may then search this metadata, in combination with data input by users and administrators, via the server-based image database, subject to the same flexible access controls described for the inventory management application.

Once images are aquired, users have the ability to add annotations, highlighting points or areas of interest, with associated text. Annotations can be browsed and shared via the Catalyzer server, or images can be viewed without annotations.

Axiope has teamed up with two hardware providers to offer joint solutions for specialized image management systems:

  • Apple Computer - optimized for Apple's XServe/XRaid data storage platform
  • BD Biosciences - tailored for BD Bioscience's Pathway imaging system
