Axiope's Catalyzer platform improves on established data
management technology in two synergistic ways (see architecture diagram). The
platform's use of XML database technology has
enabled us to provide a comprehensive range of components which can be
combined in different ways to address
a variety of application areas. And the Catalyzer
platform enables users with limited computer skills to
build, configure, modify and maintain systems which are
web-accessible, secure, and which link all their information
sources. Catalyzer-based applications make use of a family
of plugins developed for data formats commonly used in the
industry, e.g. microscopy, flow cytometry, imaging and image
analysis, and electrophysiology. Proteomics and genomics
plug-ins, and plug-ins for general purpose applications,
such as Microsoft Office and Adobe's PDF and Photoshop, are
also planned or under development.

Typically customers approach us intending to use Catalyzer
for one of the application-areas already described. After
adopting Catalyzer for that application, or, increasingly,
in the course of evaluating the system, they become
enthusiastic about Catalyzer's capability to handle a full
